It has emerged that 30 BTC that had not moved for more than 14 years since 2011 has recently been transferred, drawing attention.

A blockchain media outlet, U.Today, reported on July 5 local time that the holdings were first received on Aug. 7, 2011 and then moved in bitcoin block 956627.

Galaxy Research said in a recent post on X, formerly Twitter, that the wallet had been dormant for 14 years and 9 months. At current bitcoin prices, the holdings are worth about $1.88 million (about 2.88 billion won). Realised profit calculated on an average purchase price of $9 was $1.84 million (about 2.82 billion won), for a gain of 719,353 percent.

The bitcoin is believed to be part of a coin attributed to "Noah Doe". Galaxy Research classified the address as "Noah Doe #38530 · Salomon Client Dusted". Alex Thorn (알렉스 손), head of research at Galaxy Research, said in a separate post, "The pace of on-chain movement for the long-dormant coins claimed by Noah Doe is accelerating every month."

Market interest is focused not only on a long-held stash moving, but also on the fact that these coins are linked to an ongoing lawsuit. Noah Doe, one of the anonymous plaintiffs, has asked a New York court to recognise ownership of 39,069 long-dormant addresses holding 3.8 million BTC, including addresses linked to Satoshi Nakamoto. The other plaintiffs are two Wyoming limited liability companies whose names have not been disclosed, "ABC Company" and "XYZ Company".

The plaintiffs are seeking confirmation that all long-dormant bitcoin addresses and all assets in them belong to them. The suit is an action for declaratory judgment to confirm ownership, citing New York state legal principles related to lost property.

The lawsuit has also seen a shift in its line-up. A real defendant identified as "John Doe 33" has recently appeared, claiming the case itself is invalid and filing a motion to dismiss. As the increase in long-dormant bitcoin transfers intersects with the ownership dispute, further moves from the related addresses are expected to remain in focus.

Bitcoin is trading at around $63,500. That is 50.29 percent below the all-time high (ATH) of $126,198 recorded in October 2025. Still, this transfer is being weighed more for the actual movement of long-dormant holdings and the possibility of links to a legal dispute than for sharp price swings.

The case shows that beyond a simple transfer of long-dormant bitcoin, ownership disputes over a specific group of addresses are intersecting with actual on-chain movements. Whether more dormant holdings move and the direction of the ownership confirmation lawsuit now underway in New York court are expected to remain market focuses.
