Breez has added a feature to its developer SDK that allows users to send USDC and USDT to more than 30 blockchain networks using their bitcoin balance.

Cointelegraph reported recently that users do not need to convert to stablecoins in advance or hold them separately.

The feature combines the Lightning Network with atomic swaps. When a user enters the recipient wallet address, the Breez SDK identifies the destination blockchain and displays the conversion route, transfer amount, network and fees before payment. Liquidity providers, including Flashnet and Boltz, then convert the sender's bitcoin into stablecoins and deliver them on the blockchain selected by the recipient.

Roy Sheinfeld (로이 셰인펠드), Breez's chief executive officer, said the feature is not a method for issuing USDT or USDC on the Lightning Network. Users pay from their bitcoin balance, and recipients receive stablecoins on supported blockchain networks.

Breez explained that users continue to hold bitcoin until they initiate a payment. The feature is non-custodial and initially supports only stablecoin payments sent to external blockchains. Breez said it plans to add receiving stablecoins from external blockchains in a future version.
