Dunamu will expand recovery support for financially vulnerable groups. It will widen its existing youth-focused support programme to include middle-aged participants and pursue integrated support linking debt repayment with living expenses and interest-free loans.
Dunamu, which operates the digital asset exchange Upbit, said on Tuesday it signed a business agreement with the Credit Counseling and Recovery Service and World Together for an integrated recovery support programme for financially vulnerable groups called 'Upbit Next Series: Didim'.
The Upbit Next Series is an ESG project Dunamu has pursued under the motto of 'finance that empowers young people'. Since 2022, Dunamu has provided about 2,500 young people with debt repayment support and tailored consulting through 'Next Dream' and 'Next Steppers'.
Dunamu said the existing programme reduced participants' debt and increased earned income. It said the debt adjustment retention rate reached as high as 91.1 percent.
Based on its experience operating the existing programme, Dunamu will launch a new season 2 initiative called the 'Didim Project'.
The Didim Project will run for three years from 2026. Eligibility will expand from young people to include middle-aged groups. It will support about 2,100 financially vulnerable people nationwide aged 19 to 59 with debt repayment at no cost, living expenses and interest-free loans.
Support per person will be up to 3 million won in debt repaid at no cost, 1.5 million won in living expenses and 3 million won in interest-free loans.
Dunamu will also expand its team of financial mentors. It will strengthen close one-on-one mentoring tailored to each participant's financial situation and provide all participants with customised consulting, financial education and counselling.
It will also build a virtuous cycle structure for a fund that reinvests repaid and recovered money. Dunamu plans to continue expanding the number of people eligible for support through this.
Dunamu will propose the direction of the programme as a sponsor and provide operating funds. It will donate bitcoin worth a total of 4.5 billion won to World Together over three years, at 1.5 billion won a year.
The Credit Counseling and Recovery Service will be responsible for advisory support for programme operations and cooperation on publicity, while World Together will oversee programme operations and management.
Dunamu CEO Kyungseok Oh (오경석) said, "Through this Didim Project, we want to widen the social safety net to include middle-aged groups who urgently need support," adding, "We will do our best to support financially vulnerable groups."
