Waymo has removed the waitlist for its U.S. robotaxi service in Dallas and opened it to all residents and visitors. TechCrunch reported on Monday that anyone in Dallas can now download the app and immediately request a robotaxi.

The service does not yet operate to Dallas Love Field Airport. Waymo said it is continuing tests of self-driving vehicles at the airport and that airport service will start soon.

Waymo has been testing its technology on Dallas public roads since last year and has also disclosed plans to launch a local service in 2026. At the time, it partnered with Avis Budget Group to set up an operating system for electric autonomous Jaguar I-Pace vehicles. Avis Budget Group handles overall garage operations, including charging and maintenance.

Waymo opened its Dallas service to the public in February, but initially restricted users through a waitlist. About 150,000 people used the Waymo app during that period. Waymo has followed the same approach in other markets, including Phoenix, Los Angeles and San Francisco, before removing waitlists.

Waymo temporarily suspended services in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Atlanta in May due to issues responding to heavy rain and flooded roads. Operations later resumed, but Waymo said it may adjust operations or temporarily suspend service depending on severe weather, flood warnings and real-time conditions. Users can check service status in the app.
