KakaoGames is starting a casual game service based on hypertext markup language (HTML5) that runs directly within KakaoTalk without a separate application installation process.
KakaoGames said on June 19 it has officially launched a total of 25 casual games through the 'Gamechip' platform newly added to KakaoTalk's 'More' tab.
Gamechip is a space designed to allow KakaoTalk users to instantly enjoy mini games across various genres. KakaoGames oversees everything from sourcing games that join the platform to operations and overall development management.
The newly unveiled line-up is made up of genres that can be enjoyed casually in a short time. Six games using Kakao Friends intellectual property (IP) are Friends BongBong, Friends Tile Match, Friends 3-Match Puzzle, Jumping Friends, Ryan's Dessert Sort and Friends LinkPop. It also offers 19 general casual games, including Hit Hit Mole, Shooting Arrow and Find the Differences.
In particular, based on KakaoTalk's social functions, users can compete in rankings with friends or easily share their records, adding to the fun of play.
KakaoGames plans to sequentially roll out more than 50 games this year, starting with the launch of these 25 titles.
Hyun-joo Jung (정현주), a manager at KakaoGames, said the company has prepared content that various user groups can enjoy, ranging from casual games suited to the KakaoTalk environment to games using Kakao Friends IP. Jung said the company will continue to discover games suited to the platform's characteristics and expand the play experience so users can enjoy them casually in everyday life.
