LG Electronics' OLED TVs have been validated on film production sites in the United States and Europe. LG Electronics said on Wednesday it held the 'LG OLED Hollywood Roadshow' in Los Angeles in May, followed by events in London and Munich in June.
The Los Angeles event was held at the global film production company Picture Shop. Attendees included cinematographer Johanna Coelho (요안나 코엘료) of the HBO drama "The Pitt" and colour scientist Joshua Pines (조슈아 파인스), who worked on the films "Gravity," "The Revenant" and the "Star Wars" series. In Europe, the roadshow was held at the Strand Palace Hotel in London and at film equipment company ARRI's Munich studio. Colorists for Disney+ and Apple TV+ content also took part.
Coelho said LG OLED TVs accurately express black levels and contrast even in bright environments and effectively reduce screen reflections, delivering the colour and depth intended by content creators to maximise viewing immersion. Pines said LG OLED showed colour expression comparable to reference monitors used in studios. He said it naturally expressed fine details without banding or noise and impressively delivered the picture-quality completeness valued in content production environments.
The roadshow focused on the 2026 LG OLED evo AI, model G6. The G6 features the 3rd-generation Alpha 11 AI Processor (α11 AI Processor 4K Gen3), which boosts brightness and colour, and Reflection Free Premium, which reduces light reflections in bright environments. The event compared picture quality with RGB LED-based LCD TVs. It also demonstrated differences in reflection suppression, HDR, gradation expression and colour accuracy versus other OLED TVs.
Baek Seon-pil (백선필), head of Display CX at LG Electronics, said the company will continue to develop the picture-quality competitiveness of LG OLED TVs through ongoing communication and collaboration with content-production experts who strictly evaluate even subtle differences in picture quality.
