Wemade has brought its long-running intellectual property dispute with Actoz Soft to a final close.

Wemade said on Sunday it and its subsidiary Jeon Gi IP have withdrawn a lawsuit seeking royalty payments for The Legend of Mir 2 and 3 that they had filed against Actoz Soft and Jin Jeon-gi.

The withdrawal is a follow-up step after the companies completed a substantive royalty settlement. Wemade and Actoz Soft had waged years of legal battles over the profit-sharing ratio for the jointly held The Legend of Mir 2 and 3 IP.

The conflict turned in December last year when the Supreme Court finalised the royalty profit-sharing ratio for The Legend of Mir 2 and 3 at 80 percent for Wemade and 20 percent for Actoz Soft. After the ruling, the two companies recently completed all royalty settlements that had been delayed, applying the confirmed 8-to-2 ratio.

With the financial settlement, the core issue, effectively concluded, Wemade decided to withdraw the case, judging there was no longer a reason to maintain it. The company said the move removes legal uncertainty surrounding the Mir IP, its key cash cow, and is expected to add momentum to its global licensing business going forward.

A Wemade official said, "In line with the Supreme Court’s final ruling, legal uncertainty related to The Legend of Mir 2 and 3 IP business has been completely resolved." The official added, "With the legal dispute concluded, we will focus more on growing the value of the Mir IP and expanding the business based on a stable legal position."
