The Broadcast Media Telecommunications Committee and the Korea Broadcasting Communications and Radio Agency will take part in the 20th Busan Content Market (BCM) at BEXCO in Busan and host an Asia investor briefing, they said on Tuesday.
The event will be held to attract investment in K-content, with domestic venture capital firms and representatives from major Asian broadcasters and production companies attending.
BCM will run from Tuesday through June 12 under the theme, "Busan, where K-content meets the world." It will draw about 2,300 participants from 700 companies in 55 countries and aims for $230 million in deals.
The investor briefing will run over 2 days. On Tuesday, 15 content proposals using artificial intelligence (AI) will be introduced. On June 11, 8 proposals for co-productions with Asian broadcasters and production companies will be introduced. The AI-based content includes "Reconstructing Relationships with Elderly Robots," and the international co-production proposals include "The Korea-China-Japan Ramen War."
Managers of K-content and media strategic funds will also take part. In addition to the briefing, there will be investment consultations and an event called "Asian Broadcasters' Night" to promote exchanges among Asian broadcast production personnel.
A total of 12 projects, including 8 AI-based content proposals and 4 international co-production proposals selected through screening, will receive support through October for advancement such as consulting. It also plans to hold an investor briefing and awards ceremony linked to the Next-Generation Media Festival scheduled for November.
Cheon Ji-hyun (천지현), director general of the broadcast and media promotion bureau at the committee, said, "We will strive to help domestic broadcast content expand more broadly into the global market by expanding opportunities to attract investment at home and abroad and supporting the revitalisation of international co-production."
