Recently confirmed cases of phishing emails impersonating the Postal Service Agency require special caution.
The Postal Service Agency under the Ministry of Science and ICT said on Thursday that phishing emails are being distributed under names such as the "Korea Postal Service Agency Delivery Management Team" and urged people to be careful about clicking links or entering personal information.
The confirmed phishing emails were sent in the name of the Korea Postal Service Agency. They carried the title, "[Urgent] Parcel delivery failure notice – request to correct address," and said an issue occurred during delivery of an ожида parcel and that address information needed to be updated. The emails link to an external phishing site made to look like an official website and seek to leak personal information and induce payments.
The agency stressed that post offices do not request delivery address changes or payments by email. It urged users not to click links in suspicious emails, to check notifications from official post office text messages, apps and websites, not to enter personal information such as address or financial data, and to delete the email immediately and confirm with the postal customer service centre.
The agency reported the email cases to the Korea Internet and Security Agency's 118 counselling centre and the National Police Agency's Cyber Crime Report System. It plans to continue providing guidance to prevent customer 피해.
