SOOP has formalised the launch of a women’s professional volleyball team and will newly join the V-League after receiving membership approval from the Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO).
SOOP said it received approval to join as a women’s professional volleyball team through a special KOVO board meeting held on June 2. With the approval, SOOP will begin full-scale founding procedures, including forming the squad and building an operating system.
SOOP’s subsidiary SOOPTV will handle day-to-day team operations. Lee Min-won (이민원), SOOP’s chief executive, was appointed as the inaugural owner. Lee Byung-ho (이병호), an executive director at SOOP, was named general manager. Office head Kwon So-yoon (권소윤) will oversee practical operations, forming the framework of the team’s operating system.
After completing its management lineup, SOOP plans to proceed step by step with overall preparations, including building a front-office organisation and cooperation with its home base. Administrative procedures to participate in the V-League and work to build the squad will also be pursued in sequence.
SOOP plans to actively apply to team operations the broadcasting and content production capabilities it has built through running esports teams and collaborating with various sports leagues and sport associations.
SOOP has recently been expanding the base of volleyball content, including live broadcasting every preliminary match of the 2026 Korea Industrial Volleyball Federation and the pro volleyball Futures Champ tournament. Based on that, it plans to go beyond simple match broadcasts by offering a variety of content that players, fans and streamers can participate in together, broadening touchpoints with fans.
A SOOP official said, "Starting with KOVO membership approval, we plan to begin full-scale preparations for team operations." The official added, "We will create a new club culture that can grow together with volleyball fans."
