The Broadcasting Media Communications Committee and the Radio Promotion Association of Korea (RAPA) said on Thursday they supported Korean digital creators' participation in the 2026 Licensing Expo held in Las Vegas, the United States.
The 2026 Licensing Expo is the world's largest intellectual property (IP) trade fair. It was held from May 19 to 21 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. It connects global IP holders with manufacturers and distributors, offering opportunities for cooperation and contract signings. This year, about 5,000 brands and about 10,000 related participants took part, including Netflix, Warner Bros, Coca-Cola and Lego.
Through the support programme, Bammitongwi posted 155 business matchings between Korean creators and overseas companies, and contract talks worth about $6.65 million, or 10.03 billion won.
Creators who took part were 10 teams with overseas recognition across genres including sports, food, music, characters and education. Participants included Kim Pro with 132 million subscribers, as well as GyeyangSso (27.6 million), Ssoyoung Ssoyoung (12.4 million), Team Illusion (9.82 million) and Dingo Music (5.51 million). Bammitongwi and RAPA provided one-on-one business meeting management, dedicated consultation booths and interpretation and translation support.
From a year earlier, the number of consultations rose 27 percent and the amount of contract talks increased 14 percent. Last year, 10 teams participated, resulting in 122 company matchings and contract talks worth about 8.8 billion won, with 2 MOUs signed. After that, 7 export contracts worth about 1.9 billion won were concluded.
Kim Jong-cheol (김종철), chair of Bammitongwi, said, "We will expand support for Korean digital creators' overseas expansion of intellectual property (IP) from North America to the Asian market as well, and we will actively support enactment of the 'Digital Creator Act' to build an industry foundation."
Bammitongwi plans to support Korean creators' participation in the China Licensing Expo scheduled for October. It will recruit 10 participating teams within next month, and will also carry out follow-up management such as advice on collaboration strategy and legal support.
