[Digital Today reporter Ji-young Lee] Hana Bank is moving to expand veterans culture to mark the Month of Patriots and Veterans.

Hana Bank said on May 28 it will launch the 'Korea Hurrah Savings' product on June 1 for people of national merit and uniformed personnel such as police and firefighters. It aims to provide financial benefits to those who have devoted themselves to the country and convey appreciation.

To that end, Hana Bank signed a memorandum of understanding with the Seoul Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs on May 26. The two sides agreed to cooperate to improve financial convenience for people of national merit and veterans' families, support living stability, and expand veterans culture.

The savings product will be sold with a limit of 60,000 accounts. It offers an annual preferential interest rate of 2.0 percent to people of national merit and uniformed personnel such as police and firefighters without additional conditions.

General customers can also receive preferential rates. An annual 1.0 percent is applied if a customer records at least 6 salary or pension deposits during the 1 year after joining. An annual 0.5 percent applies to first-time Hana Bank customers, and an annual 0.5 percent applies to those who join a pledge to practice patriotism such as flying the national flag. The maximum preferential rate is an annual 2.0 percent.

The bank will also hold an event offering prizes to customers. From June 15 to Aug. 15, it will provide 5 Ahn Jung-geun handcuff medals and 20 Taegeukgi card-type medals through a draw. It will also give 100 people a chance to join a visit to veterans historic sites with the Seoul Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and provide commemorative gifts.

It will provide a 3,000 won Paris Baguette mobile voucher to all customers who join and are uniformed personnel such as police and firefighters currently in service.

A Hana Bank official said, "We prepared this product to convey our gratitude to people of national merit and uniformed personnel who devote themselves to public safety." The official added, "We will continue to expand financial products and services that consider social value and customers' lives together."
