Synology said on May 26 it has launched the PAS7700, an active-active all-flash NVMe enterprise storage system.
Active-active storage keeps two or more storage systems active to handle read and write operations simultaneously and synchronise data in real time. If one side goes down, the other can immediately take over operations.
The company said the PAS7700 has 48 NVMe SSD bays in a 4U chassis based on a dual-controller architecture. Adding up to 7 expansion units increases raw capacity to as much as 1.65PB. With up to 2,048GB of memory and 100GbE networking, it delivers up to 2 million IOPS and up to 30GB per second throughput in an ultra-low-latency environment of under 1 ms.
It supports various file and block protocols, including NVMe-oF, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, SMB and NFS, making it compatible with a wide range of environments, the company stressed.
Bie-i Chu (비이이 추), vice president of Synology's NAS Group, said, "PAS7700 was designed to meet high availability, high performance and scalability requirements based on Synology's storage technology accumulated over more than 25 years." He added, "After more than a year of verification in real-world environments, it proved high reliability and performance, and also contributes to reducing total cost of ownership (TCO)."
