Bitcoin Ordinals explorer Ord.io and linked consumer app Zap will end services on June 1.

The Block reported that Ord.io operators cited a lack of funding as the reason for the shutdown.

Ord.io founder Leonidas King (레오니다스 킹) posted on social media platform X (Twitter) that the project would end, saying funding had run out and he could not find a way forward.

Ord.io launched in 2023 as a Bitcoin inscription explorer. It later added community features such as recommendations.

Operators said they would upload the full history of recommendations, replies and public address profiles to GitHub to preserve part of the Bitcoin culture formed on Ord.io. They also left open the option for someone else to take over the platform and keep it running.

Zap, which Ord.io developed alongside it, will also shut down. Zap is a non-custodial app designed to let users sign up within 30 seconds and trade Bitcoin memecoins. Zap met the 30-second goal but did not secure enough user response, The Block reported.
