Naver Cloud said on May 7 it will launch a new security feature called ACME that automatically manages certificates.

The company said ACME, short for Automated Certificate Management Environment, is an international standard protocol that automatically issues, renews and revokes SSL/TLS certificates that prove the safety of network communications. The ACME feature is currently available through the Naver Cloud Platform certificate management service, Certificate Manager.

Naver Cloud said its ACME feature is easy to adopt, is compatible with open-source clients across various environments, and can set up an automated certificate environment with only simple initial settings. It added that corporate organization validation (OV) certificates, which have a strict review process, can also be renewed automatically through regular reviews.

Naver Cloud said it plans to focus on providing an environment in which domestic companies can easily manage overall security operations, including certificate management, starting with the launch of the ACME feature.

Jae-dong Kim (김재동), Naver Cloud’s chief information security officer, said, "We are continuing differentiated support, including directly providing customers with dedicated scripts and guides so they can easily handle domain ownership verification, which is an entry barrier to automating certificate issuance." He added, "We will continue to introduce practical IT solutions so domestic companies can reduce the complexity of security operations and focus on business."
