Amazon launched Amazon Supply Chain Services (ASCS), selling logistics infrastructure it has built over decades to outside companies, it said on Sunday.

Amazon is opening its logistics network not only to sellers on Amazon but also to companies in all industries, including healthcare, automotive, manufacturing and retail.

Amazon Supply Chain Services provides the full logistics process through a single network. It includes ocean, air, road and rail freight transport, warehousing and delivery, and parcel delivery services.

Peter Larsen (피터 라슨), vice president of Amazon Supply Chain Services, said, "We are providing the supply chain service infrastructure, intelligence and scale that Amazon has proven over decades to all companies." He said, "This is the same as what AWS did in cloud computing."

Amazon has supported order fulfillment for independent sellers through its Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) service since 2006. To date, the number of items shipped by sellers through FBA has exceeded 80 billion. Based on this experience, Amazon has gradually provided individual logistics services to retail, wholesale and commerce companies over the past 3 years, and has now expanded it to a full opening.

According to the company, Procter & Gamble uses Amazon freight services to transport raw materials and distribute finished goods. 3M uses it to ship products from manufacturing facilities to logistics centers worldwide. Lands' End uses an integrated inventory pool within Amazon's network to fulfill orders across multiple sales channels. American Eagle Outfitters ships orders from its website directly to customers nationwide using Amazon's parcel delivery network.

Companies can search for, select and apply for ASCS solutions through a centralised console.
