The Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission enacted its committee meeting rules for the first time and confirmed plans for this year's broadcast awards.

The commission on May 4 held its sixth committee meeting and deliberated on and approved a draft of the "Rules on the Operation of Meetings of the Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission". As the commission expanded and was reorganised following the enactment of the law establishing it in October last year, the rules set out the basis for operations, including quorum requirements for deliberation and resolutions, an acting chair and payment of allowances for non-standing members.

Under the rules, a meeting opens with at least 4 members present and resolutions pass with approval by a majority of members in attendance. The acting chair position is filled in the order of vice chair, standing member and then non-standing member.

Items reported that day included revisions to notifications following a government reorganisation and plans for the "2026 Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission Broadcast Awards". The notification revisions cover across-the-board changes to the names of the agencies listed in related notifications as policy on pay TV and satellite broadcasting is transferred from the Ministry of Science and ICT to the commission.

The broadcast awards will select outstanding works produced and aired domestically in 2025 and hold an awards ceremony in the second half of the year. A total of 15 works will be honoured, including 1 grand prize, 1 top excellence award, 9 excellence awards across 5 categories and 4 special awards. Total prize money is 100 million won, and submissions and nominations will be accepted until June 2.
