Jeju Bank customers will be able to use bank financial services at post office counters without fee burdens.
The Postal Service under the Ministry of Science and ICT signed an agreement on the joint use of the post office counter network with Jeju Bank and the Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute at Gwanghwamun Post Office on Wednesday. It will provide Jeju Bank financial services at post offices from May.
Under the agreement, the Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute will provide a computer network relay service. Jeju Bank will introduce a system so customers can use the service from May.
Jeju Bank customers will be able to conveniently use deposit and withdrawal, account inquiries and ATM services at about 2,400 post offices nationwide that handle financial transactions, without additional fees. The service will be provided at post offices in the Jeju region from May and expanded to post offices nationwide from September.
The Postal Service has steadily expanded access to its counter network so digitally vulnerable groups can use financial services without inconvenience. It partnered with Citibank starting in 1998, followed by IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, KDB Industrial Bank and Jeonbuk Bank. In 2022 it signed agreements with the four major commercial banks — KB, Shinhan, Woori and Hana — and in 2024 with BNK Kyongnam Bank and iM Bank, followed by an agreement with Standard Chartered First Bank Korea in November last year.
Park In-hwan (박인환), head of the Postal Service, said the post office would continue to faithfully perform its role as a financial service hub institution that works with the public by continuing to expand partnerships on the joint use of the post office counter network.
