A booklet compiling examples of how disputes are resolved during the use of telecom services has been published.

The Broadcast Media Communications Commission said on Wednesday it published the '2025 Telecom Dispute Mediation Casebook', which categorises a range of disputes that occurred during service use, including telecom service contracts and cancellations, and speed and quality issues.

The casebook was planned to help prevent similar disputes. It includes 42 major cases among those handled last year by the Telecommunications Dispute Mediation Committee. It is organised by type so it can be used as a reference in the mediation process.

It is divided into disputes related to service contracts (16 cases), quality (5 cases), explanations or notices of key matters (10 cases), and other disputes such as identity theft (5 cases). It also includes six cases that were amicably settled between the parties before mediation procedures began.

The commission said it also includes information such as how to apply for counselling and dispute mediation, and the processing status, making it easier for the general public to understand dispute resolution procedures. From this year, it also includes a QR code so users can access the Telecommunications Dispute Mediation Committee website or the telecom dispute mediation application guide directly.

Chairman Jong-cheol Kim (김종철) said disputes over telecom services, an essential service closely related to daily life, are becoming increasingly diverse. He said he hopes the casebook will serve as a useful reference for both users and service providers.
