The Wall Street Journal reported on April 24 that Google plans to invest up to $40 billion more in Anthropic.
The WSJ said Google would first invest $10 billion based on Anthropic’s $350 billion valuation, and then commit up to $30 billion more if Anthropic meets certain performance targets.
Anthropic secured $65 billion in new funding this month alone. Earlier, Amazon recently invested $5 billion in Anthropic immediately and agreed to add up to $25 billion if conditions are met.
Earlier this month, Anthropic also signed additional partnerships with Google and Broadcom to secure TPU chips with capacity of several gigawatts.
Anthropic needs large-scale funding as demand for computing power surges on the rapid growth of Claude Code. Its annualised revenue jumped to $30 billion from about $9 billion at the end of last year.
In February, Anthropic raised $30 billion at a $380 billion valuation.
