The Korea Financial Investment Association said on April 21 that its chairman, Hwang Seong-yeop (황성엽), joined a relay campaign hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency to eradicate illegal gambling among teenagers.

The campaign is a society-wide action initiative conducted in a relay format to raise awareness of the risks of illegal cyber gambling targeting teenagers that is spreading through online and mobile environments, and to heighten social vigilance.

Social concerns are growing as illegal cyber gambling rapidly penetrates the teenage population in forms similar to games, with more cases leading to addiction and financial losses.

Hwang said illegal gambling among teenagers goes beyond an individual issue and undermines the future foundations of society. He said the association would contribute by expanding financial education for youths so teenagers can form sound financial values and grow up in a healthy way.
