Jung Jin-wan (정진완), chief executive of Woori Bank, said on April 12 he took part in the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency-led relay campaign to curb youth illegal gambling.
The campaign has been conducted in a relay format since 2024 to highlight the dangers of illegal gambling among teenagers and raise social awareness.
Jung joined after being nominated by Hana Bank CEO Lee Ho-sung (이호성) and recommended Jin Sung-won (진성원), CEO of Woori Card, as the next participant.
Woori Bank is also strengthening its response to prevent financial fraud and illegal gambling 피해.
It is implementing proactive steps including warning alerts and blocking deposits for accounts suspected of illegal gambling by analysing transactions on its youth-only service, Tintin. It is also conducting preventive efforts such as expanding financial education for teenagers.
Jung said youth illegal gambling is not an individual issue but a task society as a whole must solve together. He said Woori Bank would continue to do its best to build a safe financial safety net so future generations do not fall into the temptation of gambling.
