Apple has begun selling official self-repair parts for its latest devices, including the MacBook Neo and iPhone 17e.
NineToFiveMac, an IT media outlet, reported on Tuesday that Apple updated its Self Service Repair Store to add parts and repair tools for several recently released products.
Products now covered include MacBook Neo, iPhone 17e, iPad Air M4, MacBook Air M5, MacBook Pro M5 Pro and M5 Max, the new Studio Display and Studio Display XDR. Users can buy or rent the parts and tools needed to repair those devices.
Apple has operated its Self Service Repair Store in some regions since 2022. Users in supported regions can obtain parts and tools for compatible devices and carry out repairs themselves. Apple also provides official repair manuals for several products. The manuals include step-by-step replacement procedures by replaceable parts and components.
The update makes it possible to buy individual items ranging from the iPhone 17e’s back glass and bottom speaker to the Studio Display XDR’s outer housing, fan and logic board. Apple said it enabled users to obtain needed parts and tools and repair devices themselves with help from official repair manuals.
A product that stands out in the move is the MacBook Neo. NineToFiveMac said the MacBook Neo has been rated as "repair-friendly". By quickly adding the model to the self-repair program, Apple has allowed early buyers to obtain parts through official channels.
It is also notable that the supported range has expanded beyond laptops and smartphones to the display product lineup. By including self-repair coverage for products with relatively complex parts configurations such as the Studio Display XDR, Apple showed a trend of expanding its official repair support system across recently released devices.
Apple’s self-repair program combines parts supply with the release of manuals to help users secure the right to repair. This update also proceeded in line with widening options beyond official service centres after new product launches. As a result, users of the latest Apple devices in supported regions can manage parts procurement and repair procedures more directly.
