[Digital Today reporter Hyunwoo Choo] Tesla Korea will introduce the long-wheelbase, three-row, six-seat electric SUV Model Y L to the domestic market from April 3. It is a strategic lineup reshuffle that positions the Model Y L as a new main model alongside the halt in Model S and Model X sales.

The Model Y L is 4,976 mm long, up 179 mm from the existing Model Y, and its wheelbase has been extended by 150 mm to 3,040 mm. As it moves up to the mid-size SUV class, it shifts from a five-seat layout to a six-seat configuration with separate third-row captain's chairs. The second-row seats are left-right independent, significantly expanding legroom and headroom. A power armrest has also been added.

Its driving performance also stands out. It is equipped with an 88.2 kWh battery and is certified for 553 km of range at normal temperatures and 454 km in cold-weather driving. With maximum output of 456 horsepower (340 kW), it accelerates from zero to 100 km per hour in the 4-second range. A chassis with adaptive suspension and electronically controlled damping shocks adjusts to road conditions, while an extended roofline and aerodynamic design improve driving efficiency. It also supports a V2L function that supplies power from the vehicle battery to external devices such as electric heaters and power tools.

The launch price in South Korea starts at 64.99 million won, with additional costs depending on options. The Environment Ministry's national subsidy is around 2.1 million won. Adding local government subsidies is expected to bring the effective purchase price to the low 60 million won range, depending on the region. Imported volumes for South Korea will come from production at the Shanghai Gigafactory in China.
