French AI startup Mistral AI has acquired Paris-based startup Koyeb, which helps simplify AI app deployment and infrastructure management, TechCrunch reported on Feb. 17.
Koyeb, the first company Mistral AI has acquired, was founded in 2020 by engineers who previously worked at French cloud company Scaleway. It provides a platform that makes it easy to deploy AI applications in a serverless environment. It recently introduced Koyeb Sandbox for deploying AI models.
Koyeb's platform will continue to operate independently after the acquisition. Mistral AI plans to use the Koyeb platform to deploy models in customers' on-premises environments and improve GPU optimisation and AI inference performance. Koyeb's 13 employees and its co-founders will also join Mistral AI's engineering team.
Mistral AI has recently invested $1.4 billion in a Swedish data centre, accelerating the buildout of its AI cloud.
