KakaoPay developers gathered to share insights on technical topics including AX (AI Transformation).

KakaoPay said on Feb. 12 it held an internal developer technology exchange event, dubbed "ㅋㅍㄱㅍ (KakaoPay Developer Festival)", at its Pangyo office in Gyeonggi province on Feb. 10.

"ㅋㅍㄱㅍ" is an event in which members of KakaoPay's technology organization gather to share experience and knowledge focused on practical work and the latest technology topics. It was run in a festival format combining networking sessions and hands-on games so developers working in distributed locations could interact freely.

The event was attended by about 450 employees in technical roles, excluding essential standby staff, including the technology chief executive. Employees from other job groups also joined, adding a convergent perspective.

The key theme was how to use an AI tool-based development environment. In the morning, an internal lecture shared a conceptual understanding of development environments that have introduced AI development tools, along with practical tips. In the afternoon, participants discussed next-generation ways to improve development efficiency, focusing on AI-based internal project cases. A review of last year and a strategy presentation for this year by the technology chief executive followed.

A "demo station" was also operated. At on-site booths where those in charge directly demonstrated KakaoPay's main services, participants shared development processes, technical challenges and solutions as they sought new insights.

KakaoPay plans to further expand technology exchanges inside and outside the company this year so it can successfully pursue "AI transformation" by responding proactively to the spread of AI-linked development environments and agentic AI services.

Kim Dong-yong (김동용), KakaoPay's chief technology officer, said, "We must not stop learning about technological progress." He added, "Through AX, we will help developers focus on implementing business requirements, raise productivity and at the same time innovate user experience."
