Zoom unveiled an AI-based avatar and office apps, TechCrunch reported on March 10 local time.
Zoom is introducing AI avatar, document, presentation and spreadsheet apps, along with an AI agent builder for non-technical users and a voice translator for meetings.
The AI avatar joins meetings by mimicking a user’s appearance, expressions and mouth movements. It also supports asynchronous video messaging. The AI avatar announced in 2023 will be released in late March, and Zoom plans to apply deepfake detection technology that identifies fake video and audio.
The AI office apps automatically generate documents, presentations and spreadsheets based on meeting minutes and other data, and a preview version will be released this spring. Zoom is adding the AI chatbot "AI Companion 3.0" to its desktop app and will support work automation by integrating with Slack, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Gmail, Outlook, Asana and Jira.
As Canva and Slack also move into the AI-based collaboration market, Zoom is seeking differentiation by adding natural-language AI agent creation features, TechCrunch said.
