The Game Rating and Administration Committee said it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Creative Content Agency on Jan. 30 at the CKL Corporate Support Center in Seoul to strengthen cooperation on redress for damage related to randomised in-game items.

The agreement was designed to improve the effectiveness of redress for users harmed by randomised in-game items. The two organisations decided to build a cooperation framework by linking the functions of the Random Item Damage Relief Center and the Content Dispute Mediation Committee.

The two organisations will refine transfer and linkage procedures so that cases can be handled smoothly regardless of where users file complaints. They also established a division of roles in which the relief centre conducts fact-finding, while the dispute mediation committee handles deliberation and mediation. They will continue to cooperate to strengthen communication between game companies and users and to hear opinions.

Through the agreement, the two organisations plan to strengthen the flow from complaint filing to investigation and mediation, improving accessibility and processing speed. They also plan to enhance their ability to prevent similar harm from recurring and respond to disputes through information sharing between the organisations.

GRAC Chairman Tae-gun Seo (서태건) said the agreement was an opportunity to lay the groundwork for cooperation ahead of the planned late-February opening of the Random Item Damage Relief Center. He said the two organisations would combine their expertise to build a tight system to protect users’ rights and interests.
