Donald Trump is expected to announce a candidate for chair of the Federal Reserve on Jan. 30, local time, and a report said former Fed governor Kevin Warsh (케빈 워시) is a leading contender.
The Trump administration is preparing for Trump to nominate Warsh as the next Fed chair, Bloomberg News reported on Jan. 29, citing people familiar with the matter.
The people, who requested anonymity, said the pick is not final until Trump makes an official announcement.
The White House and Warsh did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Earlier, Trump attended the premiere of the documentary film "Melania" at the Trump-Kennedy Center in Washington on Jan. 29 and said, "I will announce the Fed chair tomorrow morning."
Trump described the new Fed chair candidate as an "outstanding" person and a "highly respected" figure. "It will be someone everyone in finance knows. I think it will be a very good choice," he said.
U.S. media reported that Warsh and Rick Rieder, BlackRock's chief investment officer for global fixed income, are being mentioned as leading candidates for the next Fed chair.
