Socar is teaming up with Nol Universe to expand car-sharing touchpoints. Socar said on Tuesday it will start offering its car-sharing reservation service on the NOL app operated by Nol Universe. Users can access Socar through the app’s main screen under the “Transport” menu. Both the “round-trip” service, which uses the Socarzone pick-up and return method, and the “delivery” service, which brings a vehicle to a location of the user’s choice, can be reserved.
Socar is pursuing a channeling strategy to extend its know-how in running its own platform to external channels. It began its first channeling tie-up with Naver in June 2024. Socar said it confirmed the effect of new inflows through external channels. The collaboration with Nol Universe is its second channeling case and aims to lower barriers to car-sharing use. A Socar official said it is an effort to provide mobility experiences across a range of lifestyle touchpoints such as travel and leisure.
The two companies will run an opening promotion through Feb. 28. If users book Socar through NOL, they receive a 50 percent discount on rental fees plus an additional 10,000 won discount. Eligible vehicle types are mini cars, compact cars and small SUVs. They also offer a payback benefit that credits 5 percent of the payment amount as NOL points. The points will be paid out in a lump sum after the promotion ends. They can be used to pay for NOL services such as accommodation or leisure.
Woochul Lee (이우철), head of the Carsharing Product Division at Socar, said Socar is expanding channels by partnering with companies across various fields, including NOL, a leading player in the travel industry, so that users can encounter Socar across multiple channels. He said Socar will continue to raise accessibility so that users can find Socar more easily and quickly whenever they need mobility.
