Dom Kwok (돔 콰크), co-founder of EasyA, argued that the prices of cryptocurrencies including XRP can stagnate up to a certain range, then spike in one move once adoption reaches a tipping point.
On Sept. 23, blockchain outlet Decrypt reported that Kwok, posting on X, answered a question asking whether cryptocurrency prices would rise gradually or suddenly. He replied: "They will surge in one go."
Kwok cited the S-curve of technology adoption as the basis for his outlook. New technologies spread slowly at first, but tend to accelerate rapidly after a certain point, he explained. He said it was a concept he learned at the Wharton School and that cryptocurrencies were likely to follow a similar path.
He argued that as adoption increases, demand can expand quickly while supply may be limited, creating upward pressure on prices. He also said cryptocurrency would eventually become an everyday tool like the internet or television. He predicted that within years, not days, it could become rare to find people who do not use cryptocurrency.
The remarks are drawing renewed attention as XRP has shown high volatility recently. XRP was about $1.58 on CoinMarketCap, up about 4 percent over the past 24 hours and about 23 percent over the past week. It rose about 6.6 percent on a monthly basis, but was still down about 14 percent since the start of the year.
Recent moves alone show sharp volatility. XRP fell to about $0.98 in August, then rose 74 percent from that low to above $1.70. It then slid about 27 percent to around $1.25, and as the rebound continued, it climbed back to about $1.65 on Sept. 23.
Kwok has not backed away from a long-term price outlook. He again mentioned his earlier projection that XRP would reach $1,000 and said the target was "more likely than ever." Still, the S-curve argument does not directly prove XRP will reach $1,000. His point is that if crypto adoption expands, the market could enter an acceleration phase, and from that point the pace of price gains could become much faster.
Based on a circulating supply of about 62.9 billion XRP, if the price reaches $1,000 the market value would be about $62.9 trillion. Compared with when XRP is about $1.61, that would require a gain of roughly 62,000 percent. Kwok said the size of the market value alone does not make the target impossible and cited bitcoin's trillion-dollar market value as an example.
Some inside and outside the market counter that a $1,000 scenario would require an extremely large market value. In that situation, the core of the debate around XRP is shifting from short-term price swings to whether real adoption growth can create the speed and scale needed to drive a sharp price surge.
