An analysis that the altcoin market has broken above a long-term downward resistance line has brought renewed attention to projections for XRP to reach $10.
On Sept. 22, blockchain outlet The Crypto Basic reported that crypto trader Crypto Cup presented price targets for major altcoins including XRP, citing a chart breakout in the altcoin market.
Crypto Cup said, "Altcoin breakout season has arrived," and cited targets of $5,000 for ethereum, $450 for solana, $10 for XRP and $5 for Sui (SUI). The report said these were personal forecasts rather than an indication that prices have actually reached those levels.
The cited chart is a two-week candlestick chart of the overall cryptocurrency market excluding the top 10 assets by market capitalisation. On the chart, a horizontal support zone around $160 billion held multiple times while highs gradually declined, forming a downward trendline. A recent candle was above that boundary line, and the market capitalisation on the chart was shown at about $217.36 billion. No specific timetable was given for when the targets might be reached.
For XRP to reach $10, it would need to rise sharply from its current trading price. XRP recently traded in the mid-$1.50 range. Based on $1.56, a move to $10 would require a rise of about 541 percent, or about 6.4 times the current price.
The figure is higher than a long-term forecast presented a day earlier by veteran trader Peter Brandt (피터 브랜트). On Sept. 21, Brandt said, citing a monthly XRP chart, that it could ultimately go to $5.40, but did not disclose when. Crypto Cup's $10 target is 85.2 percent higher than Brandt's $5.40.
The $10 XRP projection is not new. Analyst Crypto Patel previously cited a long-term chart and presented a target range around $9.20 to $10. Among other technical projections, there have also been cases that cited $17.
If XRP reaches $10, its market capitalisation would also change significantly. Based on a circulating supply of about 61.1 billion tokens, the circulating market value would be about $611 billion. As a result, the projection is being taken as an indicator that reflects not just a price level but also the possibility of a broader recovery in risk appetite across altcoins and a reallocation of funds.
What has been confirmed so far is an attempt by the altcoin market chart to break out, and price targets presented on that basis. Whether each asset actually reaches those levels, and whether the breakout leads to a long-term trend reversal, is expected to be confirmed in future market moves.
