Prediction market protocol TruO is moving its operating base from Base to the Ethereum mainnet. It will not shut existing markets immediately and will provide users with ample time to migrate, while shifting new markets to focus on Ethereum.
On Sept. 22, blockchain media outlet CoinPost reported that TruO said on its official X account that TRUE token holders can migrate whenever they want, with no separate deadline.
TruO is a fully on-chain prediction market protocol launched on Base in March 2025. Users can issue interest-bearing stablecoin TYD using USDC as collateral, and use it as margin in yes-no binary markets within the prediction market.
The move does not mean shutting all markets running on Base at once. TruO told users not to open new markets on Base that mature after Jan. 31, 2027. It aims to guide new markets maturing after that point to be opened on Ethereum once the Ethereum mainnet is live.
Markets maturing before Jan. 31, 2027 can still be created on Base as before. During the migration, trading, settlement and redemption for existing markets will continue, and returns on TYD deposited as collateral will also be maintained.
Accessibility to existing Base markets will be maintained after the move to Ethereum. It also plans to support continued use of Base-based markets that mature after the migration through the official application.
TruO explained that while Base was suitable for building experimental early-stage applications, it needs a foundation with broader adoption, permissionless operation and higher immutability over the long term. It said it chose Ethereum as the platform that best meets those conditions.
After the migration, securing liquidity is expected to emerge as a key task. TruO presented securing liquidity in major market categories as its top priority. The key will be how smoothly it can connect existing liquidity and users formed on Base to the Ethereum mainnet.
Oracles used to determine prediction outcomes were also cited as a key development task. In prediction markets, how to objectively judge and finalize the outcome of a particular event is central to trading and settlement. TruO plans to pursue the development of a next-generation oracle to reduce the possibility of disputes over outcome determinations and improve fairness and accuracy.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin (비탈릭 부테린) also reacted to the decision. On X, he positively assessed the emergence of a new prediction market player that values decentralization and ethics.
Buterin has criticised the existing prediction market industry for tending to lean toward speculative or gambling-like content. His response to TruO also aligns with his longstanding view that prediction markets should strengthen their original functions of decentralization and information production, beyond being simple betting platforms.
The key in this migration is not simply moving blockchains, but how stably TruO can build a new operating structure on Ethereum. Whether TruO can secure sufficient liquidity on the mainnet and increase the reliability of outcome determinations through oracles is cited as a key variable that will determine future competitiveness.
With existing markets on Base continuing, another point to watch is the pace at which users and liquidity actually move to Ethereum. Attention is focused on whether TruO's decision will lead to a new on-chain market structure, alongside an expanded role for Ethereum in the prediction market ecosystem.
