Customers will soon be able to accept Korea Post parcels at nearby CU convenience stores.

The Ministry of Science and ICT’s Postal Service said it signed a business agreement with BGF Retail on Sept. 9 to implement the "CU convenience store parcel mail delivery service" and will start the service on Sept. 10.

Under the service, a postal carrier will visit the CU store to collect accepted items. The parcels will then go through Korea Post acceptance procedures before being delivered to recipients.

The Postal Service and BGF Retail earlier introduced the "CU app Korea Post individual visit service" in May. When customers apply for a visit pickup through the "CUPOST app", a postal carrier visits the customer’s address to collect and deliver parcels. The companies have also designated 174 directly operated CU stores nationwide as rest areas for carriers, supporting them during periods of extreme heat.

The Postal Service expects linking CU’s nationwide store network with Korea Post’s delivery infrastructure to improve convenience for postal service users. It plans to expand cooperation with BGF Retail in areas including service partnerships such as individual visits and convenience store acceptance, and improving carriers’ working conditions.

Park In-hwan (박인환), head of the Postal Service, said, "This cooperation with CU is a case of connecting convenience stores closest to people’s daily lives with Korea Post services." He added, "We will continue to work with various private platforms to create an environment for postal services that can be used conveniently."
