Nexon will release its new massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) 'Overgeared', based on the web novel and webtoon 'Item-Bearing' intellectual property (IP), in Korea and in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau later this year.
Nexon released on Sept. 9 a cinematic teaser video for 'Overgeared', which Gray Games is developing. Nexon will handle publishing and plans to offer it as a cross-platform service for PC and mobile.
The newly released video runs about 40 seconds. It shows the game's world and battle scenes through a first-person view from the weapon "sword". Characters and their allies can be seen fighting a giant monster using various weapons.
'Overgeared' is being developed as an MMORPG in which players develop characters around equipment and enjoy large-scale competition. Nexon plans to sequentially reveal development updates and major content through an official teaser site and YouTube channel starting in October.
The original work 'Item-Bearing' is an IP that recorded a combined 1.3 billion views for its web novel and webtoon on KakaoPage. It ranked No. 1 in popularity on the Asian web novel platform Wuxiaworld and recorded 85.28 million cumulative likes on Japan's digital comics and novel platform Piccoma, and it won the Piccoma Awards 2023.
