Wrtn Technologies said on Tuesday it will introduce caps on teenagers' daily usage time and monthly payments for its AI character chat service, Crack.

Wrtn plans to limit teenagers' daily use of Crack to a maximum of 3 hours. Users who want to use it for more than 3 hours will have to go through guardian verification and consent procedures.

It will also apply a 100,000 won cap on monthly payments. If payments exceed 100,000 won, it plans to require guardian verification and consent as well.

Wrtn will also overhaul its existing youth protection framework to reflect usage patterns, including content age-rating management, work reviews, search and recommendation limits, and reporting and blocking functions. It also plans to reinforce filters and safety system prompts applied during conversations.

It will also further review age verification methods. Crack currently distinguishes adults from teenagers through PASS verification, and it is also looking into the possibility of introducing other authentication methods.

Wrtn plans to complete reviews of relevant policies and technologies and system overhauls by the end of this year, and apply the new youth protection policy from early 2027.
