Ripple \'Swell 2026\' opens Oct. 27 to discuss AI payments and XRP Ledger security solutions

Ripple will hold its annual Swell event in New York from Oct. 27 to 29. AI-based funds transfers and security verification for the XRP Ledger are set to be central topics. Ripple said 1,500 global decision-makers are expected to attend. A session will cover formal verification to mathematically confirm current and next XRP Ledger protocols work as designed. Another session will discuss agent-based payment structures and infrastructure for machine-to-machine payments.

Ripple fixes XRPL flaw that could mint 184 times XRP supply, but $250,000 bug bounty stirs criticism

Ripple fixed a critical vulnerability in the XRP Ledger that could have allowed creation of XRP worth 184 times the fixed supply, but drew criticism over a $250,000 bug bounty. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT said the reward was too low given the potential risk to billions of dollars in assets and warned it could distort researchers’ incentives. Ripple said it found no signs of exploitation and that an attack would have required unusual conditions.

XRPL bug fixed that could have allowed excess XRP minting; no signs of exploitation

A critical flaw in XRP Ledger that could have allowed the creation and spending of newly minted XRP beyond the fixed supply has been patched. The vulnerability, present in the code since 2015, was disclosed by RippleX and the XRP Ledger Foundation. It was reported on Sept. 22 through the XRPL bug bounty programme and fixed in xrpld 3.4.1 released on Sept. 25. No signs of exploitation on the public network were found.
