Coinbase to pursue all-in-one finance app in Canada, including stocks and prediction markets

Coinbase is seeking to build an integrated financial platform in Canada that would cover not only cryptocurrencies but also tokenised stocks and prediction markets. Coinbase Canada CEO Eric Richmond said the company plans to expand services so users can trade various financial products in a single app, enabling 24-hour trading based on blockchain and crypto. Base nears launch of fully collateralised 1-to-1 tokenised stocks

Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 network Base is close to launching 1-to-1 collateral-backed tokenised stocks, Jesse Pollak said on X. Pollak said Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum layer-2 launched recently, properly implemented tokenised stocks in an Ethereum Virtual Machine environment, and he acknowledged Base had fallen behind in the area. Pollak told Garrett Scroggin he was finalising details and would launch very soon. Base is shifting from a social-focused strategy to financial applications.

Robinhood-backed DEX Arkus expands into tokenised assets and perpetual futures

Robinhood Crypto-backed decentralised exchange Arkus has launched tokenised stocks and perpetual futures on Robinhood Chain, expanding beyond its spot market. The service, built by the dYdX development team, now lets users trade more than 95 stock tokens, perpetual markets, and cryptocurrencies via self-custody trading accounts. Collateral and settlement primarily use USDG, a stablecoin issued by Paxos. Stock tokens are unavailable in some restricted regions including the United States, Canada and Britain.
