KT Skylife\'s ipit TV subscribers top 240,000
KT Skylife said on Wednesday that subscribers to its internet-based TV service ipit TV have topped 240,000 and internet subscribers have surpassed 660,000. The product, launched in July last year, offers live broadcasts and over-the-top services based on KT\'s internet network and provides a 2,200 won monthly discount to users of major OTT services. The company aims to reach 300,000 ipit TV subscribers and 700,000 internet subscribers by year-end.

Media communications commission renews KT Skylife satellite TV licence for 7 years
South Korea\'s Broadcasting Media Communications Commission voted to renew the satellite broadcasting licence of pay-TV operator KT Skylife for a period of 7 years. The commission reviewed the renewal at its 15th plenary meeting of 2026 on June 5 after the previous licence period expired last year. KT Skylife scored 697.52 out of 1,000 points, above the 650-point threshold. Renewal conditions were reduced to five from 20 conditions and five recommendations previously.

Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission sets meeting rules, pushes broadcast awards
South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission has adopted its first rules governing how the committee operates and confirmed plans to present broadcast awards this year. The commission approved the rules at its sixth meeting on May 4, setting quorum and voting requirements and defining the order of succession for an acting chair. It also reviewed revisions to notifications following a government reorganisation and outlined the 2026 broadcast awards programme.
