LG Hellovision said on Thursday it will offer popular Daehangno performances as TV content through its "joint live performance content production" project.

LG Hellovision will provide live content that combines performances and broadcasting to lead changes in viewing culture. The project will be carried out through cooperation among four parties: pay-TV operators, original performance creators, small production companies and small programme providers (PP).

LG Hellovision will oversee overall planning. Based on discussions among the operators, it pursued identifying small-theatre performances with artistic merit, investing production costs by creating co-investment channels (LG Hellovision and small PPs), producing live performance content and distributing the content to participating small PP companies.

Pay-TV viewers will be able to watch the Daehangno musical "Hatshepsut" on TV this month. "Hatshepsut" is an original musical about the intertwined fates of "Hatshepsut", the first female pharaoh of ancient Egypt, and a mysterious woman named "Amun".

The content will be aired sequentially on three channels (ENA, The Movie and Cinema TV) carried on pay-TV platforms including HelloTV as well as cable TV, internet protocol television (IPTV) and satellite broadcasting.

The live performance content for "Hatshepsut" was produced using cinematic shooting techniques by South Korean live-content production company Wizonson. LG Hellovision said this differentiates it from simple relay-style video.

Im Sung-won, an executive director at LG Hellovision's public relations and external cooperation centre, said, "We hope this joint project will become a signal flare for mutual growth that creates new business opportunities among operators amid the rapidly changing performing arts and media ecosystem."
