KT Skylife said on Wednesday that subscribers to its internet-based TV service, ipit TV, have topped 240,000 and internet subscribers have surpassed 660,000.
ipit TV is a product that provides live broadcasts and over-the-top video services based on KT's internet network. It was launched in July last year. It offers a 2,200 won monthly discount to customers who use major OTT services such as YouTube Premium, Netflix, Disney+ and Wavve.
As ipit TV subscribers increased, subscriptions to bundled internet products also rose. As of the end of June, KT Skylife's retained internet subscribers exceeded 660,000.
KT Skylife explained that ipit TV subscribers have been rising by about 20,000 a month on average since launch. The company aims to secure 300,000 ipit TV subscribers and 700,000 internet subscribers by the end of this year.
In line with the subscriber expansion, it also segmented its products. On July 8, it launched ipit TV Choice, which combines pay-channel packages such as movies, family and adult with ipit TV Plus, a live broadcast product.
Subscribers can choose the pay-channel package they want and can switch to a different genre once a month.
To mark the first anniversary of ipit TV's launch, KT Skylife will provide new subscribers with 4 pay channels free for a month during August, including SPOTV Prime, Catch On, Movie Choice Trot and Movie Choice Martial Arts Action.
The company plans to expand its IP-based media and internet business while using satellite broadcasting's nationwide coverage and stability to grow its satellite and IP platforms together.
