Alibaba AI finds 4 previously unknown superconductor candidates, verified in experiments
Alibaba Group Holding\'s research arm DAMO Academy unveiled an AI agent, Elements Clo, designed to discover superconducting materials. DAMO said the system identified four previously unreported candidate compounds and verified them in experiments. It said the model was trained on 125 million molecular and crystal structures and uses a specialised foundation model with 1 billion parameters. DAMO said it screened about 2.4 million stable crystal structures in 28 GPU hours and narrowed them to about 68,000 candidates.

South Korea sets 2030 moon landing bid with public-private small lander
South Korea aims to secure a 3 percent share of the global aerospace market by 2035 by building a Korean low-Earth-orbit satellite communications network, developing a public-private lunar lander and advancing reusable launch vehicles. The government plans to bring forward its first lunar landing to 2030 by launching a small lunar lander jointly developed with private companies. It also plans to expand policy from R&D to demand creation and broaden support to materials, parts, equipment and satellite data use.

Arcturus raises $8 million seed for carbon nano conductor to cut grid power losses
U.S. advanced materials startup Arcturus has raised $8 million in seed funding for a next-generation conductor technology aimed at reducing energy losses on power grids. The company is developing a laser process to inject carbon nano material into copper and aluminium to cut heat generation and transmit more power. Arcturus says its material can reduce grid energy lost as heat by up to half while keeping wire size unchanged.
