LG Uplus launches \'ixio roaming call\', starting in Japan and expanding to 100 countries
LG Uplus said on Saturday it launched its overseas free calling service, \'ixi-O (ixio) roaming call\', starting in Japan, and will expand the service to about 100 countries in the second half of the year. The service allows ixio AI calling app users to make voice calls on U+ roaming plans or over Wi-Fi without international call charges. The company said it planned the service to reduce call costs while travelling or on business trips.

K-AI models expand industrial use in calling, translation and mobility
Korean artificial intelligence models are expanding their footprint across industries, including calling agents, translation services and mobility. The Ministry of Science and ICT said companies and institutions from LG AI Research, SK Telecom and Naver to startups and the Bank of Korea are accelerating AI transformation using domestic models. Examples include LG Uplus’ call agent, SKT’s in-car assistant, Flitto’s translation service and Naver Cloud’s finance platform deployed at the Bank of Korea.

Google to be AI partner for Korean industry, pushes into manufacturing, platforms and entertainment
Google positioned itself as an AI partner for South Korean industry, outlining plans to expand adoption from manufacturers such as Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor to platforms and media including Kakao and CJ ENM. At a Seoul event, Google Korea CEO Yoon Koo said it would build an AI ecosystem with leading Korean companies. Google also announced an AI skills brand, plans for an AI campus, and showcased robotics and education initiatives using Gemini models.
