Yoon Hye-on appointed chair of Korea Foundation for the Promotion of Women in Science and Technology

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT appointed Yoon Hye-on (윤혜온), a senior research fellow at the Korea Basic Science Institute (KBSI), as the new chair of the Korea Foundation for the Promotion of Women in Science and Technology on June 15. Yoon previously served as head of the Korean Women Scientists and Engineers Association and as a chair professor at KIRD. Her appointment followed review and recommendation by an executive nomination committee. Her term runs for 3 years from June 15, 2026.

Lim Jong-ryong confirmed for second term as Woori Financial chairman

Lim Jong-ryong (임종룡), chairman of Woori Financial Group, was confirmed on March 23 as the group’s new chairman at its annual general meeting of shareholders. Lim had been selected as a chairman candidate by the executive nomination committee in December and secured shareholder approval on the day, confirming his reappointment. His new term runs through March 2029. Shareholders also approved the appointment of three outside directors: Yoon In-seop, Ryu Jung-hye and Jung Yong-gun.

Choi Woo-hyung wins second term as K Bank CEO after unanimous nomination

Choi Woo-hyung (최우형), CEO of K Bank, secured a second term after the lender’s executive nomination committee unanimously recommended him as the next chief executive, a filing showed on Feb. 26. The committee said it reviewed his career and performance during his tenure and judged him suited to implement the bank’s vision and sound management principles. Final confirmation is expected after a shareholders’ meeting process by late March.
