South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT appointed Yoon Hye-on (윤혜온), a senior research fellow at the Korea Basic Science Institute (KBSI), as the new chair of the Korea Foundation for the Promotion of Women in Science and Technology on June 15.

Yoon previously served as president of the Korean Women Scientists and Engineers Association (KWSE), a chair professor at the Korea Institute of S&T Human Resources Development (KIRD), and chief member of the committee that drafts the Basic Plan for Science and Technology, among other roles, and has been active across the science and technology sector. Yoon underwent review and recommendation by the executive nomination committee in accordance with related rules, including Article 20 of the foundation's bylaws. Her term runs for 3 years from June 15, 2026.
