Six information security international standards finally approved, Korea speeds push to lead AI, 6G security standards

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said 6 international standards and 2 technical reports proposed by Korea were finally approved at an ITU-T SG17 meeting in Geneva held from June 1 to 10. It said 14 new standardisation items were also approved and 7 international standards were pre-adopted. The approved standards include software supply chain security threats and security guidelines for digital collection services using distributed ledger technology.

Banks move as stablecoins grow in battle to defend digital dollars

U.S. financial firms are preparing a joint payments infrastructure that would let bank deposits be transferred directly on blockchains, as stablecoins expand. The Clearing House is pushing a system for 24-hour clearing and settlement of tokenised deposits, linking blockchain transactions to existing fiat networks such as RTP and CHIPS. The push is supported by regulatory distinctions between stablecoins and tokenised deposits, while banks focus on preventing deposit outflows.

KB Securities signs MOU with Canton, Wavebridge to build digital asset infrastructure

KB Securities is partnering with the Canton Foundation and Wavebridge to push a shift in South Korea\'s capital markets toward distributed ledger-based infrastructure. The three signed a memorandum of understanding on June 4 at KB Securities\' headquarters in Seoul\'s Yeouido district. They will jointly review applying Canton Network-based infrastructure to domestic capital market transactions. They also plan to expand cooperation to introducing distributed ledger-based financial products and building overseas distribution infrastructure.
