ISO approves China-led BaaS international standard project with Germany, Japan joining
A China-led international standardisation project for blockchain infrastructure-as-a-service (BaaS) has been newly approved by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The effort seeks to establish common technical criteria that companies can use when adopting blockchain-based services, intensifying competition over standards in the blockchain infrastructure market. The project will address a technical framework and functional requirements for BaaS, with Germany, Britain, Ireland, Japan, Portugal and Uganda expected to participate.

10 European financial firms launch joint blockchain RL1 targeting regulated markets
Ten European financial institutions have begun operating RL1, a joint blockchain network targeting regulated financial markets and tokenised assets. RL1 was established in Luxembourg as a European cooperative and launched as a jointly owned venture by its members. Founding members include ABN Amro, SEB and others, with equal decision-making rights over governance and development. RL1 is a private permissioned network based on infrastructure developed by German fintech SWIAT.

HSBC enters UK digital securities sandbox after Bank of England approval
HSBC has received Bank of England approval to operate its digital asset platform, HSBC Orion, in the UK Digital Securities Sandbox. According to Cointelegraph, the platform supports the issuance, post-trade servicing and settlement of digital securities. HSBC Orion will operate as a digital securities depository within the sandbox. The platform supports bonds issued directly in digital form, including the planned UK digital gilt instrument and corporate bonds.
