Electrode restoration tech emerges that recovers up to 95 percent of used lithium-ion battery capacity
A technology has been developed to restore the performance of electrodes from used lithium-ion batteries without dismantling or melting them. Researchers expect the method can recover up to 95 percent of battery capacity and more than halve manufacturing costs for refurbished batteries. The approach regenerates electrodes directly on their metal current collectors by removing the SEI layer using a DMI solvent and applying a recovery process. It was tested mainly on EV batteries with 70 to 80 percent state of health.

Posco Future M, Kumho Petrochemical, BEI to co-develop anodeless lithium metal batteries
Posco Future M will jointly develop anodeless lithium metal batteries with Kumho Petrochemical and BEI. The companies signed an MOU on March 25 at Posco Center in Seoul and agreed to combine their materials and cell manufacturing technologies to improve next-generation battery technology. The battery design removes the anode to raise energy density and speed charging. The partners will also consider joint commercialization for new markets such as drones and robotics.

Solus Advanced Materials secures zero-defect plated current collector for all-solid-state batteries
Solus Advanced Materials said on Monday it has completed development of a nickel-plated copper foil current collector, a key material for all-solid-state batteries, and has begun scaling up for mass production. The company aims to secure both technological and cost competitiveness for the all-solid-state battery market expected to commercialize around 2027. It said its plating technology achieves zero-defect coating even on ultrathin foil under 500 nanometers.
