FSC to formalise online deposit comparison and recommendation, allowing platform broker registration

South Korea\'s Financial Services Commission will move online deposit comparison and recommendation services into the regulatory system by revising supervisory rules under the Financial Consumer Protection Act. Platforms will need to compare and recommend deposit products from at least three financial companies and list them in consumer-friendly order. The rules limit incentives per contract, cap brokering volumes by financial company and expand algorithm verification bodies. The revision will take effect three months after notice, with a six-month grace period for current pilot operators.

South Korea\'s three mobile carriers open preorders for iPhone 18 with discounts, AI and upgrade perks

South Korea\'s three mobile carriers SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus will begin preorders for Apple\'s iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max from Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. through Sept. 17, the telecommunications industry said on Thursday. The official domestic launch date is Sept. 18. The carriers are offering device discounts, trade-in compensation, AI service subscriptions and handset upgrade programmes, alongside instalment and card-linked benefits.

Smilegate launches official service for \'Eclipse: The Awakening\'

Smilegate said on Wednesday it has begun official service for \'Eclipse: The Awakening,\' an MMORPG developed by Npixel. The game is available on both PC and mobile and supports cross-play between the two platforms. Smilegate has also launched in-game events tied to character growth and equipment acquisition, along with payment promotions. Offline, it is partnering with Saenghwalmaekju to sell related products through Oct. 11 and provide in-game coupons to set buyers.
