Baek Kyung-hoon discusses science, technology diplomacy in Kyoto as countries issue \'Kyoto Vision\'

Baek Kyung-hoon (배경훈), South Korea\'s deputy prime minister and minister of science and ICT, met science and technology leaders in Kyoto to discuss policy directions for the AI era and joined a joint declaration of the \'Kyoto Vision\' with more than 10 countries including the United States. The Ministry of Science and ICT said he attended the 23rd Science and Technology in Society Forum and a ministerial meeting hosted by Japan\'s Cabinet Office.

MSIT fixes 13 of 17 repeat audit findings over past five years

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said it has completed measures on 13 of 17 issues that were repeatedly raised during parliamentary audits over the past five years. It said the government, led by the Prime Minister\'s Office since May, reviewed recurring findings and pursued institutional and policy improvements. The ministry cited steps including changes to laws and systems, budget increases and project implementation, while continuing improvement procedures for four remaining items.

Korea science ministry to boost support for young researchers with new university block funding

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said it will expand research incentives for master\'s and doctoral students next year and introduce a new \"university block funding\" programme. The ministry said the change will allow universities to use research funds more flexibly for research staff, facilities and equipment. It also plans to create a new \"regional long-term 10-year track\" to help young researchers at regional universities continue long-term research.
