A practice in which AI startups promote annual recurring revenue figures higher than their actual sales has come under scrutiny. Scott Stevenson, co-founder and CEO of legal AI startup Spellbook, said many AI startups appear to set revenue records by using dishonest metrics. He cited cases where companies report third-year contract pricing as ARR despite receiving first-year payments, even when customers can opt out after 12 months.

Annual prediction market trading could reach $1 trillion by 2030, Bernstein projected. The investment bank said the market, which expanded around sports, is expected to broaden into information markets across politics, the economy, macro indicators and culture. It estimated 2025 trading at about $51 billion and forecast $240 billion in 2026, with 80 percent compound annual growth through end-2030. Bernstein also cited regulatory clarity, blockchain infrastructure and rising industry recurring revenue.
